The General Climate Change Law grants state governments powers to impose local taxes on emissions of various Greenhouse Gases (GHG), such as carbon, methane, among others.
Currently, states such as Querétaro, Tamaulipas, Yucatán, Zacatecas, among others, already have local taxes in force on GHG emissions.
